Looking for fun, unique Halloween costumes for this fall? From basic to funny to unique, I have narrowed down the list, here are my favorites:
Starting off with duo costumes to do with your best friend or partner, here are my top picks:
- Curious George and The Man with the Yellow Hat from Curious George
- Cody and Chicken Joe from Surf’s Up

- Shrek and Princess Fiona from Shrek
- Pedro and Napoleon from Napoleon Dynamite

- Puss n Boots and Kitty Softpaws from Puss n Boots
- Coraline and Wybie from Coraline
- Bert and Ernie from Sesame Street
- King Julian and Mort from Madagascar
- Ash and Agnes from Fantastic Mr. Fox (or ash and Mr. Fox, OR Mr. and Mrs. Fox)
- Perry and Doofinshmirtz from Fineas and Ferb
- Victor and Emily from Corpse Bride-This is such a cool costume. It’s definitely a good costume for those who wanna go all out, you can’t do it halfway (especially for Emily)
- White Chicks-need I say more?
- Serena and Blair from Gossip Girl
- Lorelei and Luke from Gilmore Girls (or Lorelei and Rory)
- Jack and Sally from The Nightmare Before Christmas-basic but always a cute option
- Ghostface and Casey Becker from Scream

- Padme and Anakin from Star Wars
- Cher and Dion from Clueless
- Kat and Patrick from 10 Things I Hate About You

- Bianca and Cameron from 10 Things I Hate About You
- Ferris Bueller and Sloan from Ferris Bueller’s Day Off
- Andie and Ben from How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days-the iconic yellow dress and a simple suit, this is a perfect couple’s costume.
- Mia and Sebastion from La La land-The yellow dress and button up with a red tie. Real ones know this is a keeper.
- Princess Buttercup and Westley from The Princess Bride-This honestly might be my favorite couples costume of all time. Buttercup’s red dress and Westley’s black mask, this is the perfect Halloween costume for believers in the ROUS’.

- Marv and Harry from Home alone-They’re easy outfits to recreate, then add feathers and face paint. This is such a good costume, it’s just so classic and funny.
- Bob Ross and his painting (or any artist and their art)-Easy but unique.
- Dumb and Dumber-can choose any outfit but I think the matching blue and orange outfits are best.
- A duck and the guy at the lemonade stand-kind of cheesy but super simple and cute for last minute costume.
- Astrid and Hiccup from How to Train Your Dragon
- Judy and Nick from Zootopia-Is basic but is also one of the best couples costumes.
- Peter Pan and Wendy-Again basic, but not lame, this is such a fun costume.
- Greg and Rowley from Diary of a Wimpy Kid
- Jake and Flo from Progressive and State Farm
- For the Stranger Things fans, duos like Steve and Robin, Hopper and Joyce, Steve and Dustin, Nancy and Robin, El and Max, and Eddie and Dustin are all fun iconic costumes.
If you didn’t find a duo costume you love, just think of your favorite movies/TV shows and pick the duo you like best. There’s bound to be hidden costumes right under your nose.
Next up we have trio costumes, a shorter list than duos but can easily be pulled off and are so much fun! Here are my favorites for iconic trio costumes:
- Karen, Gretchen and Regina from Mean Girls (can easily be a quartet if you add Cady)

- Batman, Joker and Harley Quinn
- Annie, Helen and Lillian from Bridesmaids
- Alvin and The Chipmunks
- Fineas, Furb, and Perry
- Shrek, Puss n Boots, and Donkey
- Barden Bellas from Pitch Perfect (can also be larger group)
- Emma, Ricky, and Chleo from H2O
- Donna, Rosie, and Tanya from Mamma Mia
- Sophie, Lisa, and Ali from Mamma Mia
- SpongeBob, Patrick and Squidward (could also add Plankton)
For bigger groups like 4’s and 5’s, you can do things like Ninja Turtles, or Men in black. Find a sitcom tv show and give everyone a character. Pirates or fairies are always cute. Another costume I don’t see a ton is mermaids, which is a fun costume that can be personalized completely to your taste, and can look so cool as a group.
Last but not least, the singles. Here are my personal favorites for singles costumes:
- Forest Gump-low effort costume that’s so simple yet niche, just plaid blue shirt, khakis and of course his Nike shoes. If I saw this costume it would bring me so much joy.
- “Bed” bug- You can dress up in PJ’s or a night gown, slippers, eye-mask, then add antenna and whatever other accessories. I think this is such a cute idea
- Princess and the pea-You can either have the pea be a stuffy or a person, but this is such a cute costume.
- Snoopy-you can do his airplane hat and goggles, red scarf and brown jacket, so simple and cute.
- Chicken Little-Green striped shirt, jorts, glasses. This is absolutely iconic for either gender.

- The mouse from If You Give a Mouse a Cookie-I’ve seen this a lot lately, I think It’s a fun idea
- Fancy Nancy-do it out! You know Fancy Nancy would, so accessorize to your heart’s content.
- Paddington Bear-With the little blue coat and red hat, this is so perfect.
- Tooth fairy-instead of the basic tooth fairy you can have bloody pliers and money to make a funny twist on the costume .
- Princess Mia from Princess Diaries
- Pete the cat-with red converse and a skateboard this is such a fun idea for either gender.
- Nesquik bunny from the 2000s-This is so cute and stylish, with the baggy pants, yellow shirt, headphones, this could easily be recreated with things you have.
- Adam Sandler-probably the lowest-effort costume you can find, any baggy shirt and basketball shorts you can find, Adam wouldn’t be picky.
- Viola from She’s the Man (can also be done as a duo with her boyfriend)-With the tampon up the nose, the wig, the suit, everything is just so funny and perfect about this costume.

Remember that your halloween costume should bring you joy. Choose a niche character that only you know, or do an inside joke with you and your friend. Have fun with it!
I hope you found inspiration in my Halloween costume ideas. Have a happy Halloween in the valley!
