Over the past few years a lot of pop artists have gone on tour across the world. Two artists that have had a very successful tour are Billie Eilish and Gracie Abrams. They both performed at sold out stadiums that can fill up to 17500-20000 people in one night. Seeing them live feels like you’re entering a new world of fun, loud and crazy experiences. But the difference between the two has me wondering what night was more exciting and an overall better experience.
Billie Eilish’s shows are the definition of crazy upbeat and fast but also slow songs. Billie’s concert leans more towards visuals, crazy lights that make you feel so in the moment and have you dancing by the first song. The stage is really a cool set up. Usually big pop singers like her will have their stage against a wall but Billie made it so everyone could have a clear view and put the stage right in the middle of the auditorium. This choice of stage placement was a really unique way to highlight her set. Billie has two stages. One is a small box that she jumps out of towards the middle of the show. This is a really cool piece of the performance. Billie can make the perfect transitions between fast and slow songs. Even though the majority of the songs are fast and upbeat some of her biggest hits are slow. Such as “skinny” and “what was I made for” are two of her most popular songs with slow melodies.
Gracie Abrams has more of a softer and chill vibe to her performances. There’s minimal flashes and upbeat songs, and there is more focus towards her voice and lyrics. Two Gracie Abrams’ songs “I Love You I’m Sorry” and “Thats So true” have the whole crowd going crazy and you can hear the big audience screaming their hearts out especially to the bridge. This makes you feel so happy knowing you are surrounded by people who love her songs just like you do. Gracie also has two stages; her main stage and a smaller stage that has the theme of a bedroom because that’s where she writes the majority of her songs. On the smaller stage she sings surprise songs and her slower songs.
Both of these concerts were so fun but in my opinion neither win. They win in different ways. I would not be able to choose between the two amazing experiences. Billie’s concert is the most emotional and powerful experience. Gracie shows that her concert that is more quiet yet has exciting energy can be just as impactful. I saw Gracie Abrams at the Kia forum in L.A. with my best friend and her mom. We took a road trip down there and stayed in LA. for a couple nights. I saw Billie at the Chase Center in San Francisco with one of my closest friends and her mom. For Billie, I was sitting very close but for Gracie I was pretty far from the stage but still a great experience. Both of their concerts highlight the beauty of how seeing an artist you truly love can be a memory you hold forever.
