Food in the Valley

Food+in+the+Valley

One Friday afternoon we found ourselves craving something to eat that was more exciting than the usual home provided food of our everyday lives. We wanted to eat something from a restaurant but didn’t want to try and convince our parents to drive into Fairfax or beyond. As we began to discuss what the possibilities were, it didn’t take long for us to realize our list of food options in The Valley was minimal. We wondered what other alternatives existed to satisfy our appetites. We began to put our heads together to try to find an answer to this question.

There are not many places to choose from when dining out in the Valley, but the options that are available are pretty special. In this article, we will be spreading the word on a few local gems. Additionally, we will share what we found in our search for other restaurants that deliver to us here in The Valley.

A great place in the Valley to eat is Arti’s Natural Indian Cafe. Arti’s specializes in true Indian cuisine. The people who work at Arti’s are incredibly kind, making sure your food is always up to par. A big favorite is the chicken tikka masala, it can also be vegetarian. They have many varieties of naan, including gluten free. On a hot day it’s always great to cool down with a mango lassi. That’s not the only thing they do. They also work with LEAP and host give-back nights to support our school. We highly recommend going there.

Another one of the local favorites is Giaco’s. Previously known as Two Bird. Giaco’s is a family owned establishment, operating since 2022. Giaco’s serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. They also have a bar and a dog-friendly patio. They make great snacks like fries and pizza. The specials are excellent and change every day. People rave about the burger, and the desserts are all made fresh in house. Whether you’re going for the food or the drinks, Giaco’s is another great place to dine. Giaco’s also has a small inn attached to it. Rooms can be booked online and it’s a great spot for visiting friends and family.

If you’re looking for a refreshing drink to cool you off or a fresh coffee to perk you up, The Pump is a great choice. Since it is in the heart of The Valley, it is very accessible to everyone. It is open from 7am to 5pm, making it a great place to go in the mornings or afternoons. The Pump has many varieties of teas and espresso based drinks. The pastries and snacks are all homemade and excellent. There is also a small store attached to The Pump filled with locally made art and gift items.

Sometimes it’s more convenient to have food delivered than to eat out. One restaurant just on the other side of Whites Hill, well-known for delivering to the valley is Red Boy Pizza. As the home of the sourdough crust, it is made apparent that they value freshness and quality. Red Boy offers a wide variety of toppings and sizes. We are very lucky that they deliver to the Valley.

After calling a multitude of nearby places, we were disappointed to find out that while they did deliver, they didn’t deliver to the Valley. As it turns out, Red Boy Pizza is the only local restaurant that delivers on their own. Even though we didn’t get the results we were hoping for, our research wasn’t all for nothing. After looking into delivery services, we found out that Uber Eats delivers to The Valley. We tried to confirm that GrubHub does as well, but were unable to get a definitive answer. While both deliver a variety of foods, we suggest looking online to see if your favorite restaurant participates. We hope next time you are feeling too tired, too busy, or just plain uninspired to make dinner, you should check out some of the amazing options our valley has to offer.
